2004 PANINI SPORTS MEGA CRACKS BARCA CAMPEON LIONEL MESSI ROOKIE #62 PSA 10 – GEM $4,560

I always look at these cards and wonder if adding ‘Catalan’ or ‘Spanish’ to the PSA levels would help distinguish the two variations and provide long term value. (Search This Week’s Messi Auctions)

2002 PANINI SPORTS MEGA CRAQUES CRISTIANO RONALDO ROOKIE #137 BGS 8 NM-MT – $3,960

If there’s one thing a collector should take away with vintage football is that a slab is so much more than just a technical grade.

The conversation of this card’s price in a relative grade at PSA should revolve entirely around PSA’s authentication guarantee. With all of the controversies, any reasonable collector wouldn’t trust Beckett slabs when it comes to vintage football, and that needs to be addressed. 2017 TOPPS CHROME UEFA ORANGE REFRACTOR LIONEL MESSI 1/25 #1 BGS 9.5 GEM MINT – $4,920

This Messi, and more importantly, Orange refractors have such a good lesson to teach: the PSA 10 Gold Refractors regularly go for $12-$15k, and carry a premium over the more short printed Orange Refractors /25. Cards are never as linear as, shorter print, more valuable, there’s many factors involved.

1977 FUTBOL DISCS SOCCER DIEGO MARADONA ROOKIE #11 PSA 1 PR – $2,640

Eye appeal is everything, the miscut disc and the mark on Diego’s face really hold the this card back. (Search This Week’s Maradona Auctions)

2018 PANINI KABOOM! GOLD CHRISTIAN PULISIC /10 #K-CPU PSA 9 MINT – $3,960

My favorite image of Christian, but I’m still a purist, I prefer the pack-pulled Select USA Kaboom. (Search This Week’s Pulisic Auctions)

This has to be one of the premier Lewandowski ultra-modern cards.

Here’s one of the few ‘second-year cards’ that actually held value over time, and that’s mostly attributed to the World Cup Prizm connotation attached to it.

I wonder if the ‘Kabooms are the next PMG’s’ narrative is already passing us by after just a year…

2019 PANINI PRIZM PREMIER LEAGUE GOLD PRIZMS MOHAMED SALAH /10 #99 PSA 10 GEM – $1,110

If you’re seriously looking into buying fringe players outside of the all-time greats, it’s important to study each market and what each player has available, and that’s only more prevalent here in football. Salah doesn’t have much high end, so it’s not surprising to see this first-year Liverpool Prizm reach the levels of a Finest Superfractor.

Fun card, poor execution on the auto…Messi’s autograph is just too elegant.
